Opening of the Rizal Garden and the unveiling of the bust of the National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Potsdam, Germany, on September 1st, 2001.
Four members of the London Chapter visited Potsdam to the Philippine Consulate at the request of the Hon. Consul Sir Manfred Schnell and his wife Lady Stella to celebrate the opening of the Rizal Garden and the unveiling of the Bust of the National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
Those who attended along with the 300 guests were Sir Barry Bowman, KGOR, then Area Commander for the UK and Ireland and Europe Area Council Officer, Lady Ana Bowman, President of the Maclariz Europe, Sir Anthony Shalloe KCR, then Deputy Area Commander and Lady Victoria Quiroz.
Sir Barry Bowman was asked to unveil the bust together with the German Minister of the Interior. Sir Barry gave a talk on the life of Rizal to the amassed crowd and this was followed by talks from various guests. The British contingent would like to thank the German guests and Filipinos for the very warm welcome and to Sir Manfred and Lady Stella for a wonderful reception with plenty of food and drinks.
