Events

There are two events every year, which most of the Knights of Rizal will try not to miss. These are the celebrations for Rizal`s birthday anniversary on or around June 19^th and the celebrations for his martyrdom on December 30^th to memorize his execution by the Spaniards on December 30^th, 1896.

December 30^th, 2004

The picture shows Sir Barry Bowman, KGOR, at the base of the Rizal Monument in the Luneta Park on December 30^th, 2004.

Since 1996 until now (2005) he every year attended the Rizal Tribute in Luneta from 5.00 am to the Laying of the Flowers by both the President and then the Supreme Commander. He also attended the breakfast with the Knights at the Manila Hotel.

This "ritual" of Sir Barry let him dine with the entire Rizal family on a few occasions, when they were there. On the 100^th anniversary of Rizal's martyrdom he was a guest of President Estrada in 1996.

He too went to Paco Cemetary to see the original grave of Rizal and also the graves of the 3 friars who were executed by the Spanish.
